Over 100 Celebrate Opening of DC Women's Business Center

On Tuesday, over 100 women business owners and community members celebrated the grand opening of the DC Women's Business Center.  SBA Administrator Karen Mills, White House Council on Women and Girls Director Christina Tchen and At-Large Councilmember Kwame R. Brown hosted the event, which coincided with Women's History Month.  Chairman Vincent C. Gray and Councilmembers Muriel Bowser, Harry Thomas and Yvette Alexander presented a Council resolution to the SBA to commemorate the occasion. Miss Kwame's Financial Aid Workshop? Now You Can Watch and Share the Video Anytime! At-Large Councilmember Kwame R. Brown hosted a financial aid workshop where guest speakers detailed how DC students can obtain funding to pursue their college education.  The event was also a precursor to the College Round-Up trip, an annual free bus trip to Tarboro, North Carolina , where DC students were offered on-the-spot acceptance to historically black universities.  The goal of the workshop was to educate students on how to apply for aid from the DC Government (DC OneApp) and the Federal Government (FAFSA).
